Oh hey there lovely people.
Something always seemed to be lacking when it came to my last blog. It started out in 2014 when I was living in Reading, UK during a study abroad and my pals wanted me to start a YouTube channel to document my experiences but I was too nervous to do so. Thus, the blog was created! *insert sound bite magic wand swish with extra biodegradable glitter* I can’t say I ever truly got into it. My time abroad was both some of the best months I’ve had and some of the worst since it was in the depths of my anxiety-ridden years. It was tough. Still, my friends and family enjoyed the posts about the little shops I visited, getting picked up by lovely lady off the side of the road (yes, that happened), and my first ever #PlantFam. I returned before the holidays that December and I didn’t really have anything left to post since I wasn’t traveling anymore.
January of 2015 was when I took the plunge: YouTube. Please, only go back to my first video if you want to host an uber cringe fest. I had trained in high school in interactive media and almost went off to University to make a career out of it. It seemed natural that I wanted a creative outlet after three years of restricting my creativity through pursuing an engineering degree in a town whose biggest attraction was a Walmart (I can’t believe I just mentioned that store in my first post back….). I started off with a bit of everything with a heavy influence in tea.
Through the years I’ve worked on both the video and blogging fronts. The problem came when at least once a year I have an identity crisis of who I actually am and what I provide to the online world.
To say I’ve taken a long break feels like an understatement. The last blog post I wrote was a full thirteen months ago – yeaaaaa… woops! Over that time, I’ve gone through circumstances which have made me grow up. When looking back over my previous posts of travels, weekend lookbooks, and diy drawer inserts, I didn’t feel like it fits who I am today. I’m not usually the “delete it if it doesn’t fit the you today” but I don’t feel like it would make much of a difference if they were kept public or not. So an entirely new website has been created. A fresh start.
WELCOME TO THE NEW AKM!
*pops little party poppers*
I actually just sighed when typing that. It feels great. I’m sure there will be a few updates made in the next month or so as I figure out more of what works, what doesn’t, and the overall ins-and-outs of WordPress but for now this is what I want to provide online.
The new content is a bit broader. Don’t worry your little self – there will still be tea but it won’t be the only focus of all my online content (excluding Instagram; cuppas are just so grammable!). The new format is sorted out into three categories: life, health, and beauty. Life will be the current thoughts, plans, and actions going on in my every day including advice, homeware, and #PlantFam updates. Health is where food, tea, and fitness come into play. Lastly beauty will be the colorful splatter of the fun products I find.
I’m elated with the new version of AKM and excited to starting putting all the plans written down in my crème de la crème notebook into fruition. I hope you stick around and check out all the great things to come!
